Emily's Diary
This extract is quoted
in Sherrard's "Two Victorian Girls", p6. I have been unable to
identify exactly where it came from in the diary. Emily evident did not find all
of Miss Kemble's style to her liking!

"I am getting
on with Miss Kemble's journal which I like uncommonly. Her descriptions are
beautiful, but throughout there is a vulgarity amounting even to coarseness,
that has the appearance to me of affection. Speaking of the rapid way time
moves along she says 'Go it, old fellow!"
